In 1937 and to celebrate the Coronation of George VI, the LNER inaugurated the “The Coronation” service which operated between London, Kings Cross and Edinburgh, Waverley. It was based on the very successful "Silver Jubilee" service which had commenced operation in 1935.
There were five new LNER A4 locomotives that were assigned to "The Coronation" and they were all named after Commonwealth countries. This year the final locomotive of the five specially named A4s has been chosen to complete the collection and will be produced as a limited edition of 1000. Each locomotive will include an authenticating certificate.
