HistoryFor the 1966 Le Mans 24 hour race, no fewer than 13 GT40s were entered, eight of which were 7 litre MkIIs. 350,000 spectators were reported to have gone to Le Mans to see the famous battle between Ford and Ferrari in the most anticipated sports car race of the year.
The blue livery number 6 car with the yellow nose was a sister car of the three-car Holman & Moody team. The Mario Andretti/Lucien Bianchi Ford GT40 car lasted for 8 hours before the head gasket failed.
