Swing Bridge Leonardo's swing bridge was conceived for the safety of soldiers and therefore he called them "bridges of happenstance" or "salvational bridge". It was intended to be constructed over a watercourse to open and close over the water. The model is fully movable and shows this function because it was designed by original drawings and by the historical model of the Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonoardo da Vinci in Milano.
