Description
Leyland’s 125bhp engine Octopus was introduced in 1947. This distinctive Co-Op truck is a wonderful addition to any vintage collection and epitomises the 50s era, which saw a massive expansion of Leyland Motors as the famous UK makes of Scammell Lorries and Albion Motors were acquired, and the company became a major supplier to international markets. The Co-operative continues today, running its business in the style of the co-operative movement, commonplace during the Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions. Its annual turnover is in excess of £9.4bn, and 87,000 employees serve around 10 million customers a week through food, healthcare, travel, funeral care and financial services.
