Description

Newcastle Brown has been brewed in Tyne and Wear, UK, since April 1927 by Newcastle Breweries (now Newcastle Federation Breweries), a division of Heineken International. ‘The One and Only’ ad line displayed on this model helped popularise Newcastle Brown across the country in the 1960’s. The beer is often called ‘Dog’, originating from the euphemism “I'm going to walk the dog” or “I’m going to see a man about a dog” – meaning “I’m going to the pub”. Today, it is often referred to as “Newkie Brown,” though this name is sometimes frowned upon in the North!
