From 1982 to 1985, Porsche enjoyed a virtual domination of world endurance races. The flagship of the company, the Porsche 956 was developed to meet the regulations of the Group C category. It was powered by a 2649cc six cylinder four valve turbo engine pumping out an impressive 620hp at 8200rpm, providing a top speed in excess of 350km/h. The Porsche 956 was used by many private racing teams including Richard Lloyd Racing. That team's 956 took 2nd place in the 1985 24 hour Le Mans endurance race and sported the red and white body colors of its sponsor Canon.
