Launched March 16th 1998, the 22B celebrated Subaru's fortieth anniversary and their three consecutive victories in the Manufacturer's World Rally Championship. It featured a WRC-style body, 17-inch BBS alloy-wheels and 4-pot brake callipers. The magnificent EJ22 2.2-litre engine used a closed deck block, forged-pistons, hollow-stem inlet valves and an IHI RHF5HB turbo. This, combined with the 22B's short gearing, produced such searing acceleration that journalists felt the power was understated.
The car modelled is number 279 of the 400 22Bs built. It was brought to the UK new by Warrender's and featured in 'Jeremy Clarkson's Top 100 Car's' video. Since 2008 it has been owned by enthusiast Jason Wotherspoon.
