McRae and Ringer’s first season as works Subaru drivers, 1991, produced a British Rally Championship victory for the Legacy but 1992 was a transitional year. The pair repeated their triumph on the British Championship, winning all 6 events, but also contested 6 World Rally Championship events, most notably finishing 2nd in Sweden.
In the car modelled here, McRae and Ringer led the opening Welsh loop of their home event, the RAC. However, the need to take avoiding action during a road section, after encountering a Range Rover coming towards them on their side of the road, led to damage that ultimately saw the pair slip to a disappointing 6th place.
